Part 3 – Looking To The Future With Disneyland Paris
In today’s episode we shall be looking at what’s going on in the Disney Studios!
For the last ten years gate no.2 at Disneyland Paris has suffered quite a poor start. On its opening day the park would have enough attractions for about half a day, you could possibly make it last a bit longer if you did things more than once.
Since then attractions like: Tower of Terror, Crush’s Coaster, the new Toystory Playland, the Cars Ride have materialised – all very good attractions.
So things are looking up, but what is still to come? Well it’s to be expected that Disney still want to keep this park growing, and there certainly is a bit more room to be squeezed into, so lets see what’s going on!
Walt Disney Studios
What we KNOW is happening:
Ratatouille Dark Ride
This ones been hinted at and suggested so many times now that if it didn’t actually happen I would be incredibly shocked! Basically its going to be a dark ride that makes use of a new trackless technology in which you go about Gasteu’s restaurant. Something else thats interesting about this one is that obviously the film is centred around a restaurant, a world class one as well. The one thing that this parc is lacking is such a restaurant, it struggles to stay open late because theres no real need for it, no restaurants open to feed people. It is therefore very possible for the ride to have a similar way as Blue Lagoon does in Pirates of the Caribbean. Thus incorporating the two into one. If you didn’t know there is a Parisian street that runs around the new Toy Story Playland which has benches with little Remy on the side. It seems clear that this street will eventually lead to the new ride and possibly the restaurant too!
What we THINK could happen:
Do you remember those plans we were talking about in part 1? They featured the new Disney Village designs and showed 2 new hotels, the new World of Disney Store and the new Train Station RER entrance. This is relevant still because the plans showed a very small part of Disney Studios, and they had a very nice surprise on them:
Soarin’
Yes, Soarin’ the ride first from Anaheim which was sent to Orlando. It was on the plans, and considering how reliable they’ve been so far it is therefore quite possible that it will be coming to us in Paris! There is further evidence to back this up too. The CA and FL versions are due to be re-done to a new version which takes people all around the globe and then returns them to their specific park. It is therefore possible that Paris will get this new version too and have it on a final flight to DLP.
Fantasmic
If there’s one thing this park really lacks, its a reason to actually stay in it late. The park hours don’t allow people to stay incredibly late as it is, however they are improving. One thing that has become apparent, is that a night-time show would give it this reason to stay up past its bedtime. In Anaheim the Californian Adventure park has now had its World of Colour show reach its first birthday, its also become one of the most popular shows ever! Disneyland Paris have made plans to build a lake in the studios park, suggesting some kind of water show is in the works. Water could mean a World of Colour, or it could be Fantasmic, or perhaps even something completely unique. It would be an expensive expansion, but World of Colour isn’t exactly the most expensive attraction to run, so I can’t see it being impossible.
Thank y’all for reading the 3 part posts these few days, its incredible what DLRP have got planned for us, and what ‘could’ be in store. I’m going to embed a few videos taken from Disneyland Paris at Christmas.
Part 2 – Looking To The Future With Disneyland Paris
In this part we are looking at what new attractions at Disneyland Paris. As usual I’ll put what we know, what we think is coming and then maybe even some pure speculation / educated guesses.
Disneyland Parc
What we KNOW is happening:
Well annoyingly Disneyland Parc is quite quiet at the moment. During 2011 with the magical moments festival there have been a few very cheap additions to the Parc:
Character meeting spots
Throughout the park there are now themed meeting spots where you can step into Agrabah and have a photo on the carpet with the lamp and Aladdin, Jafar and the Genie around you in Adventureland. Or head over to Fantasyland to have a tea party with Alice and the Mad hatter. Back in Adventureland theres another scene with zazu and Ka from lion king and Jungle book. While these are small additions they do make use of what was very unused land and are welcome new experiences.
Peter pan show
In Adventureland there’s a new show featuring all the Peter pan characters which gets kids involved by recruiting them as lost boys to battle the infamous Captain Hook! Personally I like this new addition because shows are fairly cheap to come up with and there used to be regular updates when the park was young so this is a good step in the right direction.
Tarzan
After many years of no jungle calls, the ape man is returning to the Frontierland theatre. For me this was a sorely missed show and I look forward to it’s return!
What we THINK is going to happen:
For the 20th anniversary it is unlikely that this Parc will get a huge amount of attention, however there are a few things that could potentially happen at a fairly small cost.
Pirates of the Caribbean
The Floridian version has had the Jack Sparrow and Barbossa additions for some time now. It wouldn’t cost much foe Disney to implement them in the Paris version for the 20th anniversary
Star Tours 2
Again in Florida their Star Tours has been redesigned into Star Tours 2 which features over 50 different ride variations. It took around 10 months to do. It therefore would not be impossible to get it done in time for Paris’ anniversary. Something that strengthens this argument is the fact the Star Wars characters have recently returned to the park which suggests progress may be around the corner
New 3D show
Don’t get me wrong, Captain Eo is a nice novelty. But it is so very dated now that it surely won’t be running for long. This show will almost certainly be changed to something new and hopefully not back to Hunny I Shrunk The Audience.
New Videopolise show
The lion king show left us a few years ago after a successful few years and the stage has been dormant ever since. It is very possible that a new show could reappear here for the 20th year.
What we think MIGHT happen:
This is where things become a bit speculative.
Adventureland expansion
Take the train around the park and when you get to Adventureland you will notice there is a very large expanse of open field, with an Indiana Jones Jeep sat in it and the Temple of Peril in the background. It seems odd to me that this area hasn’t been used yet since the amount of room here is vast. The rumours for what could go here range from another Indiana Jones ride – possibly an import of the Californian one. The other possibility is of course Splash Mountain. The problem with this idea is in Paris it rains, snows and generally gets very cold. This isn’t a problem it’s American cousins suffer from. It would therefore be difficult for Paris to get a ride which people get soaked on in a park which is open all year. Big thunder mountain does have elements where people get wet and this is on only during summer months. A similar feature could be added to splash mountain to enable it to be open throughout the year
Little mermaid ride
Currently both the American parks are getting Ariel coming to them. But the ride was originally planned for Paris! It therefore seems odd to suggest the park wouldn’t get it at all.

Part 1 – Looking to the future with Disneyland Paris.
Part one – Looking to the future with Disneyland Paris, what new attractions are coming?
Disneyland Paris is now 19 years old, has recently added it’s Toystory play land and tower of terror. We are now waiting in limbo with what’s on it’s way. There are many rumours that have sprung up over the past few years – some have materialised, others haven’t. Disney have just started their magical moments festival, but haven’t really started any new attractions or even announced any officially. So what’s going on?
Well the likelihood is Disney are saving their hard-earned cash for the upcoming big 20th anniversary celebration which they will most likely milk as they did with the 15th anniversary. Whose to blame them when they did actually make a lot of money from the two years they kept it going.
So what’s likely to be coming to Disneyland Paris in the near future or for the 20th anniversary? Firstly we will look at Disney Village and look at what we know is going on, and also what we think is going to happen.
Disney Village
What we KNOW is happening:
World of Disney Store
If you were to look out the Disney Village station you would see a reasonably large construction yard. This is for the World of Disney Store which is soon to be the dominant shopping experience for Disney fans in Paris. If you’ve ever been to Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World Florida you will know that these things are enormous! The Floridian one features about 7 rooms, each with it’s own theme ranging from: jewellery, home wares, toys and even a “become a princess” room for kids and of course big kids too!
This is good for many reasons. Firstly of course there’s a store big enough to get lost in on it’s way. Secondly this could potentially free up the old Disney store that is already in Disney Village for a different use. This could be a new marvel themed store since Disney recently acquired the rights for it. Or it could be yet another themed restaurant to add to Disney Village’s large collection.
Earl of Sandwich
This new restaurant is nearing it’s opening date and is placed at the other end of Disney Village next to Rainforest Cafe. It’s a very nice addition in my opinion because it adds a nice balance between the table service restaurants that are all very pricey and the cheaper alternatives. The sandwiches themselves are also considered to be some of the best in the world so this is a very nice addition to Disney Village.
What we THINK is going to happen
Hotel Expansion
Recently the hotels have seen a surge of people staying at them, some are being fully booked. This is very good news for Disneyland Paris in general and could potentially lead to an expansion in the hotels. But this is just pure speculation I hear you say? Well, no actually. A few years ago some plans of a future Disney Village were found. On the plans they had the World of Disney store that is being built, and the multi-storey car park that has been built. Interestingly they also has not one but two new hotels that connected to the end of the second street of Disney Village!
These hotels also had an extended part of lake Disney and looked as big as the New Port Bay. Since the other projects did happen it’s quite likely that this new addition will also take place.
Street Two
It seems fair to assume that if this expansion takes place then there will be a need for the second street to grow to be more like it’s sister street. What this could be is hard to say at this point. However you can be reasonably sure there’s going to be lots of shops and restaurants.
That’s all for Disney Village, but in part two we will be having a look at one of my favourite theme parks, Disneyland Parc… Check out part 2 on Friday!

Restaurants at WDW and at Disneyland Paris.
Hey guys, so I had a request on Twitter asking to do a video on my favourite restaurants at both WDW and at DLRP. I was at WDW for 21 nights, so choosing the best restaurants for me was kind of hard. So I’ve thought about it quite a bit and I hope that maybe you can agree with my decisions. Regarding DLRP, the restaurants here are awesome too so it was fun explaining why I like/dislike the chosen restaurants.
As said in the blog, my NEW website is in the making and I hope you join me at >@laurarhianne on Twitter to follow my daily countdown’s until the BIG release day. I’d just like to say that I am SO grateful for all the followers I’ve received lately, without you guys these video’s wouldn’t be happening. It makes me smile getting lots of tweets with ideas and support. So THANK YOU SO MUCH. Also, don’t forget I won’t be able to write any blogs for about 10-12 days as I’m in Turkey for a week. And also, HINT HINT, my birthday is the 7TH July, so I will be expecting some great ideas for new videos
Anyway, I’ll see you guys soon and have a lovely weekend/week.
Laura,
xx
