Epcot, Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Epcot is the center of forward thinking and technology. (If it’s the center of technology for Walt Disney World, why do the monorail gates SLIDE, whereas the ones at the Transportation and Ticket Center open by the push of a button? Just asking). There is so much to do while in Epcot. You can explore the world in World Showcase, or test out some cool gizmos and gadgets in Innoventions, or possibly head over to Future World and join Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye the Science Guy as they learn about energy. There is even more to do in Future World, you can take a flight to Mars on Mission Space, or go back in time and learn about the progress of communication in Spaceship Earth, but my favorite ride in all of Future World in Test Track.
Test Track is a high-speed ride that lets you be the test dummy. Like in most thrill rides at Walt Disney World there are cameras that take your picture so you can either purchase it or add it to your PhotoPass card. Like many people who go to Disney often you like to find the cameras and make a goofy face! Above is my example of my goofy face! (left to right, my cousin Natalie Henley, her son, and Me). For those of you who have rode this ride countless times and wish you knew where the camera is, I can help. Right as you’re about to “collide” into the barrier in the barrier test, if you look to your right you will find it! It’s on the wall right before you get under all of the angle lights that you go under to go out the barrier door. That’s it. Next time you’re on the ride look the right and smile, or do something nuts!
Have you ever been in the UK section of Epcot and stopped to get a quick picture with the red phone booths? Did you know that these are actually real live working phone booths? I didnt know that they did work until one day my room mate who left his phone in the car had to get ahold of me to let me know when to meet him for Test Track calls me from an odd number. He says to me, “Hey Zach, Im calling you from England and I would like you to know that the phone booths really do work and Ill meet you at Test Track in 15 minutes.” I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and went to Test Track just to be safe that he was coming. When he arrived I asked him about the call. He told me that he got some dollar bills changed and he made the phone call. I though this was really cool to offer, especially in a situation such as this.
I found this to so neat that afterward i did a little digging and found out not only can you call from the phone booth but you can call the phone booth from your phone! How neat is that? I am going to try this one day and ill make a post about what it was like! If you would like to call them yourself here are the numbers!
Epcot UK Phone Booth Numbers:
- Right Booth: 407 827-9861
- Left Booth: 407 827-9862
- Center Booth: 407 827-9863
If your a huge fan of Test Track you might have been a little bummed that it was closed for quite a while, well now its looking like its going to re-open soon. I found a video by Inside The Magic on the new Test Track. Video includes the queue, full ride experience and post show. Take a look!
Welcome to those of you joining me from Return to Disney and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.
Hello everyone and welcome back to Magik Mouse for another Blogorail post. Todays topic is What makes Disney feel like home? Wow this is kind of a hard question for me to answer. Ive been a Cast Member for quite a long time that Disney has literally been my home. However if I was to think back to when I would come to the parks as a guest I would have to say that the happiness makes me feel the most at home.
Happiness? I know its kind of a dumb answer but when ever I think about Disney I instantly think of happiness. When I see all the smiling families taking pictures along Main Street and running to get FastPasses gives me that homely feeling. I can honestly say that when I see these people my heart beats faster and my face begins to s light up! I love this feeling that I get and this is what makes Disney feel like home to me!
Thanks so much for reading and have a Magical Day!
